What is Mundan Puja?
Mundan is one of the sixteen Sanskars of Hinduism. The primary purpose is purification. Vedic scriptures suggest shaving the hair symbolizes shedding the past. It is also believed to stimulate the brain and nerves, helping the child’s mental development and cooling the head.
How We Do pooja
We begin with Ganpati Puja and the worship of the family deity. As the hair is being cut, the pandit chants Vedic mantras for protection. The shaved head is then washed with holy water and applied with sandalwood paste. A small Havan is performed to finalize the purification.
